ENGAGE – Changing British Politics

Well, when we first decided to started Engage no one said it was going to be easy and in our first year we have certainly had some massive hurdles to get over but the core fundamental belief behind the party has managed to keep us going, regardless. Even with all the new parties starting up, it still has not deterred us because when we look at what we have created and compare it to the new parties, they all seem pretty much the same as the old establishment parties, especially in regards to their top-down power structure that has ultimately lead to the demise of parties like UKIP. One thing we do well in Engage is to detect the problems and then address them and the normal power structure of political parties is definitely something that needs to change. If a party becomes too successful, like UKIP did, it is not too difficult to infiltrate the top tier management and take the party down from within. UKIP have certainly proven that one, so to address that particular problem we simply took the normal power pyramid of a political party and turned it upside down, thus empowering the whole membership. It is not actually possible to corrupt the whole membership of any party…

In Engage every member is an equal shareholder in the party, with an equal opportunity to voice their opinions and concerns to help shape the party policies, structure and direction. This was the way that Engage started and is the way it will remain, a true Peoples Party that implements Direct Democracy within its own party system. The higher any member ranks within the party, the more subservient they become to the membership. This is the core foundations that the party is built on.

We also have a core belief that our elected politicians do not actually have the answers the people do and so we have created a platform whereby people can put their heads together in reasoned debates to find the best possible solutions for the betterment of us all. This all takes place our purpose built members forum which is accessible 24/7 365 days a year and members can have their own input at any time that is convenient for them. No more sitting in a cold meeting room with your arm in the air, waiting patiently for your turn to speak.  Member can simply log in to join in with existing debates or start completely new ones. Our aim is to get people putting their heads together, not only to find solutions but to also get us back to learning from each other once again. Something that has been lacking in society for far too long and is the main reason why we have so many Sheeple today. You have a brain and a voice and in Engage we encourage you to use it because even the most inane ideas can turn out incredible solutions through reasoned debate.

We also strongly believe that all those involved in politics are there to represent the people, from local government to the houses of parliament. How can they possibly represent us fully unless they are listening to what we the people have to say? This is why our branches system works so that each and every Engage branch works as an independent group serving the people of their own community and then work collectively on national party issues and policies. Every Branch has its own private section on the members’ forum so that issues only relating to that branch can be discussed and voted on by its own branch members. County branches boards will only be accessible by branches within that county and the same goes for regional branches. Then we have the open to all members chambers for our national debates. Is there any other political party that is offering the same? I don’t think so but I do believe we can set the bar for all others to follow and that will effectively change British politics for the better. That is out plan.

We cannot achieve our goal without getting people on board and we need committed people who wholeheartedly believe in what we are trying to do. There are no ego trips to be had in Engage as we are all committed to giving the people a new kind of party that they can truly believe in, a party that they can vote for on the ballot papers knowing full well that the person works for them but has the full support of the party behind them when needed. Membership is just £15 a year with no concessions because we are all equal, so we all pay the same. Though most in the party tend to pay more because they genuinely do believe in what we are trying to achieve. I do know that it will be a decision for the members to make when and if the time comes.
